Leon + Faith

I’ve mentioned it before, how much I love being able to take part in a different culture or celebration. Its new, its exciting and its beautiful to watch. Faith and Leon had a wonderful ceremony complete with beautiful song and dance, the largest bridal party we have ever shot and the sweetest little moments though out the day. Their 3 children are the center of their world and each had a big job on the wedding day. Ring bearers, and speech givers each added their own touch to the special day. Their youngest, 3 year old GiGi, was a spectacular flower girl who got very emotional as her parents said their ‘ I do’s’ and although mom and dad may not have thought it was cute at the time, I think they will be able to look back years from now and see just how sweet all of those moments were.

Springing into Spring!!

Spring means two things, warmer weather and the start of WEDDING SEASON!! Woo Hoo! Most people know that the majority of weddings are booked in the warmer months, mainly May through October however that does not mean you can’t have a fantastic winter wedding. That is just what these couples below did! Usually people that have winter weddings love snow. Like myself, these couples loved the thought of a day covered in a blanket of fluffy, glistening white stuff. Some avid skiers and snowboarders and others that just wanted snowflakes to grace their beautiful day.

Actually, I think snow is one of the most beautiful things you can add to a wedding video/photo and I’ll prove it with Dan & Lauren’s day! Their first look out on a dock in the frozen lake with snow cascading down was my favorite first look of all time. They held a moving ceremony and a non stop party at Pats Barn in Troy. The winter decor was to die for, I absolutely love the exposed beams in that place and the way they string their lights!! I also loved that they brought their beloved pooch to be a part of the day!

Then it was Amy and Paul who were wed 5 days after Chirstmas at the spectacular Saratoga National Golf Course. The lighting, the flowers, and also another breathtaking first look in Proctors theater gave this one a very cool old Hollywood feel. I don’t know how I get so lucky with gorgeous model brides but I do and Amy wore her wedding dress like she was doing it a favor.

And the last winter wedding for the year also happend to be the FIRST wedding of 2013! Jimmy and Joanna were hardcore winter sport fanatics. Their honeymoon was to Sweden so they could ski and ride the Alps! I thought that was the coolest honeymoon ever and something I had never heard any other couple do before. They named each of their tables at the reception, which took place at the beautiful Old Daley Inn at Crooked Lake, a different ski resort in the East. These two were super down to earth, gracious and FUN and they put a smile on everyones face.

Ellen & Scott

If we want to continue in the direction of ‘best of’s’ THIS couple would be winning for ‘Best Ceremony Location’!!  Ellen and Scott were married inside of the Helen Hughes Memorial Chapel in Silver Bay, NY which is right near Hague/Lake George area. The church was stunning with its old stone foundation, beautiful stained glass and high arched wooden roof.  They chose Lake George because it had been a huge part of their lives growing up and now together as a couple they spend so much time there they could think of no better place to celebrate. The reception was at the beautiful Sagamore Hotel. The food was fantastic and I really loved that Ellen & Scott chose to give their guests specialty olive oil and balsamic vinegar in beautiful bottles as thank you gifts. A little homage to Scott being a professional chef I’m sure! Family and friends had a blast as did the couple and no one stopped dancing all night. I’m serious when I say the dance floor was lit up all night, not even a lull!! Guests literally begged the amazing DJ Patrick Bergeron of Metro Music for ‘one last song’ over and over again as clean up crews arrived into the early morning. It was such a fun night!!!

Jaime & Matt

A couple weeks ago I posted the trailer of Nikki and Jon and said they would receive the ‘best kiss’ award this year for their passionate portrayal of ‘I do’ in a fabulous Greek ceremony. Well this couple, Jaime and Matthew would win for ‘best vows’ hands down. I loved the emotion and the words these two shared with one another and I’m just such a sucker for grooms who shed a tear, I can’t help it! I think I really am going to do these compilations , sort of like a ‘best of’ for the year, hmmmm :-) Loved these guys and their love for one another, shot at the beautiful Saratoga National Golf Course this past October.

Amanda & Jay

We had a great time working with Amanda and Jay for both photo and video this November.  I have known Amanda since college and it was so cool to be such a big part of her day from engagement photos to the wedding day. After this couples first look, they and their entire wedding party high tailed it to Bootleggers in Troy for some photo fun and a pre-ceremony celebration. She had some great photo ideas that she wanted done and I think we really captured all of the great antics from the day. We also had some fabulous shots from RPI campus, Amanda’s alma mater. The whole day was easy going and no one ever stopped having fun. Video will be done and up in the coming weeks!!

Fawn + Lloyd

Jeremy and Austin had the pleasure of filming Fawn and Lloyd’s day  this past October at Proctors Key Hall in Troy. Such a cool venue, love that they got to walk through the vault doors. Their day reminded me of an old hollywood movie and I love a bride with great tattoos in a white wedding dress!!

Stephen + Samantha

Stephen and Samantha were married on the gorgeous grounds of Mepal Manor in Massachusetts. It was a windy October day but the weather seemed so perfect for the location with the grey skies contrasting the bright foliage on the property. The ceremony was full of love and laughs and at one point during the reception each table took turns singing a few verses of a love song to the couple which made for a very memorable evening. It was a fabulous day from start to finish and I really loved the way these two looked at one another. I’m such a sucker for sappy love videos and this one has a whole lotta feelings!!

‘Best Kiss’ award goes to this awesome couple, hands down

Meet Nicole and Jonathan. They grew up , unknowingly, with childhood homes only 10 minutes apart. They attended the same church every sunday with their parents and their families both had mutual friends. Not until 25 years later would they  have a chance encounter at a bar in NYC and hit it off completely.  Nicole works a busy career in the fashion industry and Jonathan serves active duty in the United States Marine Corps. It was so cool to witness not only the USMC traditions for a wedding but also the rich Greek culture both of their families come from. For example, there were no spoken vows between the couple during the ceremony which was new to me. I couldn’t understand a word of what was being said by the priest but they did get to wear these pretty crowns at one point and walk under the Arch of Swords at the end of the aisle!!  It was a very neat experience.

They were married in their childhood Greek Orthodox church, which was like nothing I’d ever seen before.  It was so colorful and geometric and it had great traditional elements to it as well. You can see the inside of it as the cover to the video below. Jon’s younger brother played the cello for guests entering the church and also during the ceremony. When I went back to edit their video I listened to it and it gave me goosebumps. He must be a very accomplished cellist because I uploaded his recording to my iPod it was that good. That’s also why I chose to feature a piece of it in the beginning of the trailer.

Like the title states these two had an awesome kiss that garnered laughs and loud cheers from the captive audience. They really should win a moon man for it or something!! Also, their first dance was pretty bad ass. They may have a strong case for winning another 1st place award for that too.  I just loved what was said in the speeches so much that I had to include some. There was so much fun and emotion, the entire room got into it which rarely happens during a toast!  They  just had a lot of fun with the whole day and they were so nice and down to earth it was really a pleasure to be part of it.
